• Peaceful tropical B&B

Hotel Heliconia has tastefully designed rooms, with A/C, ceiling fans, en suite bath, and terrace overlooking this reforestation project's nature trails. We arrived on short notice and were able to get vegan dinner and breakfast. The hosts are multilingual, super friendly and informative , and can adapt food service (breakfast is included in lodging; dinner is by reservation) to accommodate ovo-lacto, vegan or gluten -free diets. Home baked whole grain bread, granola & tropical fruit plate were my breakfast, with cous cous, mushroom sauté and spicy okra for dinner. I can't wait to return and try the vegan fruit sorbet and the usual 3 course dinner. The hosts arrange for organic and local produce deliveries to stock their B &B , make their own yogurt, and also lead overnight excursions to Isla Coiba, where packed meals can also be vegan, vegetarian, etc. The lodge is operated sustainably with rain water collection & exuberant plantings.
