  • This is not an appropriate Happy Cow listing

I was sent a link to this restaurant -not via Happy Cow - and found that it is listed here. Based upon this review (http://www.janglo.net/index.php?option=com_adsmanager&page=display&catid=99&tid=383488&utm_source=MadMimi&utm_medium=email&utm_content=Everything+You+Need+To+Know+-+Feb+1&utm_campaign=20160201_m129576594_Everything+You+Need+To+Know+-+Feb+1&utm_term=Cafe+Eden-+A+Special+Neighborhood+Cafe) , I dragged my husband across the city to investigate. 1. The menu is basically an extremely limited standard Kosher Israeli dairy - which includes eggs. These restaurants are rarely more than slightly vegan friendly but this one didn't even have a soymilk option for coffee or a tofu substitution for shakshuka. 2. There was not one item on the menu that was actually vegan - and the waiter gave us one suggestion for a main course served minus the traditional sides. He told us (at 12:30 pm) that there would be a soup ready in about half an hour. While I am specifically addressing the issue of vegan - I would like to add that the restaurant has no charm, the staff was not very welcoming and nor well trained based upon our experience as well as overheard conversation with one of the other two occupied tables. Quite simply, we felt we had no choice but to apologise for not staying because there was really nothing appropriate on the menu. note: I am the Jerusalem Happy Cow ambassador. I have also been vegan ( at least 95% of the time) for close to 40 years. I'll drink a glass of wine and smile under almost any circumstances. If this cafe hadn't misrepresented themselves, I would have just shrugged it off as unfortunate.
