  • Vegan and Vegetarian Ethiopian Fusion

What could be better and easier than ordering in an a la carte fashion for what is so often vegan? Mmmm, yes. This place is a modern, clean, open space that took the best parts of Ethiopian food and made it very accessible to those who find Ethiopian food novel, heavy or some other slightly uninspiring style of food. Try this place and you'll change your mind. As a veg*n, you have so many choices here. Most of the vegetarian items are vegan (about 70%), but please be sure to ask. The cabbage is not, the yogurt sauce is not, and the cold dishes labeled with cheese are clearly not vegan. However, otherwise, you're pretty good to go! The vegetarian protein choice is vegan - grilled tofu - and amply piled onto your plate for a fast-food experience you'll appreciate. Oh, but first, remember to decide on: pita bread, spaghetti, salad greens, rice, injera or gluten-free injera as your base. They are vegan. The sauces that are vegan are mild, hot and the Koch Kocha (jalapeño). The hot sides are all vegan - a yellow split pea, a red berbere lentil and a collard green (best one!). The cold sides have several vegan items too, like roasted corn, tomato and cucumber salad, and azifa lentils. When you order, you pick 4 sides. Put it all together for what now costs $8.05. Sweet. Fast Ethiopian food prepared and assembled in an open kitchen area. Yum. I just wish that all the veg sides were vegan. Plenty of seating with staff helpful in resolving questions you have and serving up your food quickly (check your number on the receipt).
