  • Well stocked high-end organic supermarket

Being a high carb health focused with a taste for high quality price-no-object food, most supermarkets in Berlin are obviously pitiful filth. LPG however, is a good example of a well rounded strictly organic supermarket that has an extremely wide selection of items despite it's modest size. With the use of a members card, my shopping isn't outrageously expensive and I now shop exclusively at this shop even buying stuff like toilet paper and washing up liquid because I'd rather pay the 50 cents more than walking into netto across the street or some other dingy morbid discounter shop where even the air smells thick like bleach and rotting empty beer bottles, where the only thing you can buy is pesticide laden junk food wrapped in plastic with arbitrary use of animal products in almost everything that would otherwise be from a plant. From the the perspective of someone outside of the high carb scene, the place is probably perfect. From my perspective however, I think they are trying hard to cater for vegans but they do not understand well enough what veganism truly is about in their bakery. For example, their cakes and snacks, instead of being made using healthy high carb ingredients like mashed banana, corn starch, beans, arrowroot, mashed apple, mushrooms, figs, dates etc etc, they simply take traditional unhealthy american recipes and substitute the butter for margarine and the eggs for oil etc. This leaves the cakes tasting a bit heavy with oil, a bit sickly and not particularly healthily. Sometimes I wish they would get with the times and make a big effort especially in the bakery section to offer new exciting and healthy options, but they are unfortunately still living in the 90s. Despite this, they are still one of the best supermarkets in europe, and unfortunately still even better than Veganz because the prices are more reasonable for daily living.
