• Lovely local shop; can order stuff from catalog

I've been buying my vegan specialties from this shop for years. It was the first place in York to stock Violife cheese and they're happy to order you any special requests from their supplier's catalog - examples include VPud vegan black pudding, Wheaty slices, uncommon flavours of Violife etc etc. The staff are very friendly and on a quieter day, you may be in for a lovely chat. It's also a great place to randomly meet other interesting customers! These days you can find vegan items in larger shops as well, so I go less often, but still do for things like oat cream, refills of bio-cleaning products, vegan chocolate. Sadly, the cakes they sell aren't vegan and the product range is a bit small, so with many items you have to wait until they get them ordered in. And yes, the waiting time can be long :P
