  • Worth a look

We went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch, it's located walking distance from the art gallery district. Something about the name of the place turned me off slightly, maybe because I don't normally look to community groups for quality food, but I'm glad we went and would return for the raw pie alone. The cafe serves both raw and cooked vegan dishes from a counter. You can order small, medium, or large plates. My husband and I both got a medium raw plate for $10 each, with a nice variety and quantity of salads, raw crackers, etc. He got falafel and I got pizza, and we both enjoyed them. The standout was the raw chocolate beetroot pie, $6. Really great flavor combinations, and absolutely no overt "health" taste. The two other pies, chocolate, and lime, also looked very tempting. The store is well stocked for health foods including nutritional yeast and other grains that might be hard to find, plus fake cheese and ice cream products.
