  • Good place to dine with your omni friends

I picked this restaurant because my partner is omni and I always try to find places that offer food that we both can enjoy. On the night of our visit, the menu was fairly vegan-friendly with at least two appetizers and entrées to choose from. The salads could easily be de-cheesed and hence be made vegan. As for dessert, although the apple crisp with coconut ice cream was the only option, I was just glad it wasn't sorbet, which to me is a pure token effort. So, theoretically you can put together a vegan three-course dinner at this place. That's pretty accommodating for an omni restaurant. However, I did find the vegan starters a bit weak. Neither pickled veggies nor sautéed mushrooms nor spiced hazelnuts sounded intriguing. The gesture was nice, but I thought they could have done better. For that reason, we skipped apps and ordered the endive apple salad to share, which was bright and refreshing. I got the marsala tofu as my main course and am happy to report that all those raves are justified. The breaded tofu was well-seasoned and seared to crispy perfection. The mashed potatoes were light and fluffy. The sauce had a unique sweetness to it that was very pleasing. While the black pepper was indeed quite prominent as pointed out in the previous review, I loved it and thought it added another dimension to the flavor profile. This dish was truly phenomenal. By the way, do ask for the delicious country bread if you are not getting any. I noticed they only served it with appetizers. The setting is like a rustic farmhouse, kind of cozy and charming. Service was just okay, a little perfunctory and hurried. I get that the place was hectic but the staff could have been warmer. They do take reservations now, so plan ahead if you'd rather not have to wait for a table. Overall it's somewhere between a 3 and a 4 for me, probably closer to a 4.
