- Very good food, friendly staff, but a bit pricey
We stumbled across this in Carrer del Pintor Fortuny whilst looking for another veggie place which is a few doors down on the same street. Being really tired after traipsing round Barcelona all day it was a relief to discover they had a couple of tables to sit at, in a really spacious area adjoining the takeaway. The food was delicious and we had a couple of vegan choices; we both had the paella which came with loads of accompanying dishes and salads, making up a really large portion altogether. They had a couple of sorts of vegan cake too, and never being people to pass up the chance of vegan cake we had one of each - both chocolate, one being a sort of sponge with fancy icing, and the other being a plainer-looking but not plainer-tasting kind of chocolate biscuit/slice - they were both absolutely delicious (and I'm not the world's biggest fan of chocolate cake as I often find it dry). They did delicious freshly squeezed orange juice too. The staff were very friendly and both people we met spoke very good English, so this was like an oasis of calm in the middle of the bustling city. The only downside was the price, which I have to confess I was quite shocked at. Together with a litre of soya milk (they sell a few wholefood items too, although you couldn't describe it as a shop), the bill came to 33 Euros for two of us. For better value, if I went agin I would just have the main course, as the orange juice and the cake were the really expensive items - I can't remember how much the main course was on its own but I think it was much better value for money).
