  • Yes, they've actually done it

So I wandered in to this new place that's supposed to be a vegetarian/vegan drive-thru. It was packed. Even on the Thursday night following their Monday opening. I'm not clear that everyone in there was even comprehending that this is a vegetarian restaurant. But many people were there. And there were quite a few cars in the drive-thru lane as well. So I waited my turn and ordered "The Amy." I found a seat and noticed an outlet that would have been awfully nice if I'd brought my laptop in, pulled out my phone and checked for WiFi. Yes, they have it. Given how crowded the place was, though, it would have been rude to have set up shop with my laptop and camped for a few hours. My food eventually arrived--given how crowded the place was, I was a little surprised this worked at all. But they held it together and sure enough, I had a double-patty burger with faux cheese, no onions, and something--probably the sauce--that at least initially tasted a bit like bacon, just as I'd ordered. Now there's something that needs to be understood here. Amy's isn't trying to produce fine food. It's supposed to be fast food. And fast food burgers are, well, tasteless. I'm pleased to report that Amy's patties are indeed tasteless. If you have a hankering for a fast food burger, you won't be disappointed. Fortunately for me, there are other things on the menu I can try next time.
