- An Japanese vegetarian experience
Japanese Buddhist actually has a tradition of making and eating vegetarian/ vegan food called Shouji Ryori, what you would expect from a high end, michelin star like presentation and care to the presentation of food and taste. I was thrilled to find a Japanese restaurant that does pure vegetarian food. Unfortunately my expectation fell short of the actual food that was served, for the price I paid. The location was a little hard to find. It is a cosy place, staff were friendly, but food was average, not dissimilar to some of the things you find in other common Japanese restaurant. Unfortunately because of the name 'vegetarian' the price you paid, was above average. Still it is a bit of a novelty... but I wouldn't go back... good for trying it out once. If you do go to Japan, I highly recommend you visiting one of such restaurant for the experience.
