• Good authentic local food

Very popular with the locals, Southern Palace offer a mixture of specials ranging from $3-5 and a good selection of mock meats, fish and mantou (steamed dumplings). We visited Southern Palace twice during our stay and over the two visits we ordered the laksa and nasi lemak from the specials board. Both dishes were delicious, especially the laksa, which was bursting with flavour. Definitely my favourite dish I tried. We also got a mezze of bean curd, mantou, satay rice block and sweet and sour seitan that costs about $2-3 each for each element. The sweet and sour sauce was very tasty too and the mantou and satay rice blocks were amazing. Some of the other mantou and bean curd options available were a little bland though. Overall, I would recommend going here, as it is very authentic and inexpensive but stick to the specials.
