Just returned from another trip to Negril which always means another trip for dinner at Ras Rody's. One of the things I love about this place is that I am, or we are, the only non-Jamaican(s) there. They say everything is organic and fresh and it certainly tastes like it. It's vegan food at its Jamaican best. Yes, the stand is a bit hard to find, on the west end of Negril, and yes, seating is limited, but those are not really issues for me. This trip, I sat beside an older Rasta man who said he was the Doctor. He said he maid herbal remedies for what ever ailed you and he did this for his community there. He said nature provided plants that could cure cancer, diabetes, ED, on and on. He claimed to have been vegan all his life, eating Ital, and had never been sick. He said he was nearing 80, but, except for some gray and white in his dread locks, he could have easily passed for 55. It's never dull at Ras Rody's. Rody himself is not always there, but the food is in good hands. His son and daughter take care of the stand in his absence. Don't let the rustic location deter you. It's an experience you will talk about for a long time once you return home. I think my tab has never been more than $8 and that's for the full meal. Tourists will stay on the compound at Sandal's , etc, but travelers will seek out and be well-pleased by Ras Rody's
