  • Went back twice and almost a third time!

I want to thank Happy Cow for saving me on my eastern/central europe trip. The recommendations and reviews were great. Who knew there were so many restaurants to choose from?! Liked enough we went twice (almost 3)! I took a meat-eater with me who was happy to go back a second time. The portions were filling (western portions) at great prices. There is an English menu if needed. Napfenyes has a very diverse menu with lots of options for the fussy. Who knew that vegetarian goulash could be so yummy!?! The pizzas were great. We tried 2-3 different kinds from the margherita to the coal pizza. Be aware that they do use quite a bit of meat substitutes, so if that is not your thing, ask to alter the dish. The interior is warm and comfortable especially coming out of the cold. The wait staff was great. The salad bar was very sparse and not even worth a look. I am sure the salads off the menu are probably better. The location is in a cellar a bit off the beaten path. It is a nice walk from the bus stop. We loved being able to walk the back streets and see the neighborhoods. There are bakeries and stores in the vicinity to stop in. As long as they do not change the quality of the food, we will definitely be back. The restaurant was definitely a highlight for us and will be our go to in Budapest.
