  • worth a visit if you're in hung hom

i had some time to kill between events in kowloon and hong kong island, so decided to try this out. it may be a little confusing to get there if it's your first visit. although the food court is listed as being on the 8th floor, my impression was that it was on the 1st floor (ie one floor above the ground floor). if you're heading from the direction of hung hom mtr exit b2, cross the roads through the outdoor bus terminus, go up the outdoor escalator leading to metropolis mall, then down again when you're in the mall. walk past health food stores health aims and o'farm, then go up another escalator when you see "friends" restaurant. the food court is on the right-hand side. it's a spacious setting with floor-to-ceiling windows and lots of seats even around 6 pm on a saturday. staff from vegetarian hut were friendly and i went with their hkd37 set meal of soup, rice and three dishes. i chose long bean, zucchini and eggplant from what was on display, some of which included egg and gluten. besides the point-and-choose option, there are also other items on the menu, with the most budget-friendly being hkd30 noodles. the food looked and tasted good, save that the eggplant was, as always, a little oily and salty (i haven't yet found any non-oily/salty yet delicious chinese eggplant dish yet). i will come back if i'm ever in the area.
