  • Good, but with some caveats.

I went to Paprika with some friends last week, and while the food we had was great, there were a couple of things that stood out as not being a great experience. First the good- the atmosphere is great. It's a lovely, beautiful restaurant with really lovely staff. Most of us were foreigners, and while some of us are fine with Japanese, many were not comfortable with Japanese at all, so the staff being ok with English was great. That being said, we were a party of seven, and there were some problems with service for us. The food is all made fresh (which is great), but the food didn't all come out together, which meant that some of us had finished eating before others had even been given their meals. They also had a little mistake where they forgot two of the mains (which again, can happen, we understand that). I think they are maybe a little more accustomed to having couples dining together, so I would advise that if you are going as a group I would recommending sharing dishes, so that way you can all be eating at the same time. Small plates were provided from the outset, so I'd say that this is probably their recommended way of eating. I probably would go again, simply because the atmosphere is so pleasant and the staff were so great, but I probably would only go with a smaller group, or would specifically warn the group that we'd probably need to all just share.
