  • Not Good

I'm sorry to say (really) that this has been my worst meal in Vietnam. It's especially unfortunate because this is one of the only *vegan* restaurants (as opposed to "vegetarian", whatever that means anymore). The best thing I can say about this food is that it took me back to memories of my old middle school days eating in the school cafeteria. The same sensation of sucking down the food like medicine, rather than enjoying it, was constant throughout my meal. It was the first and only restaurant I ever left food on the plate in Vietnam. I pretended to be sick and just paid my bill and left. The tomato sauce was just sour ketchup, the mushrooms were slimy and tough, the sauces all seemed like thy came from a can at a discount food pantry, the tofu was disturbingly pink in colour and other-worldly in texture, and the rice tasted like instant box rice. There's not one good thing I can say about the food at Halo, and I really wish that were an exaggeration. I hate to speak ill when they are trying to do the right thing, but they are so far off the mark I can't even pretend.
