- Vegan on the lake
What a find! A small place, easy to miss..at 6.125 KM out of Bariloche. We shared a table with an Argentine couple and had the fiana with salad. This restaurant is all vegan. You may wonder what fiana is?? Garbanzo bean flour with mixed vegetables that is baked. The owner cuts off squares and then adds chutney. Really yummie and good to get to go as it travels well. We wanted to try other things on the menu such as: falafel with hummus, eggplant medallions, all the great drinks…did have an apple, carrot and ginger one and a soy milk, banana and strawberries. Heavenly. The place is small with a nice atmosphere. We got to meet the owner Sandy, who was a beam of bright light. She has sold the place and will be opening a place in Pilar outside Buenos Aires. All her staff will be staying on and creating the wonderful vegan food. It was such a joy to find this place while traveling. We went back the next morning and had them prepare a to go "para llevar" lunch for us…OH, did I mention the apple crumble..more like apple cake…super! If you are lucky, Sandy will still be there to greet you, if not the food stands on it's own.
