  • Great Hospital, but Little for Vegans

The idea of a vegetarian hospital is fantastic, and I always come here for my health checks and dental work. Where else will you find an all-vegetarian starbucks? The hospital is modern and clean, and I find all staff, including the many volunteers, to be very friendly and helpful, and welcoming to foreigners who don't speak English. The only problem is that, while the charitable work done by Tzu Chi is amazing, they just don't seem to have extended their compassion to dairy cows (yet), and very little of the food in the foodcourt is vegan. And if you don't speak Chinese it's very difficult to communicate that you don't want dairy products (such as in fake meat) so the only option is to go to the Minder Buffet and take the vegetable dishes. If you'd prefer not to dine in a hospital then I recommend going to the nearby branch (about ten minutes walk) for much the same food in a nicer setting.
