In all of Paris, with its numerous vegan restaurants, Le Potager du Marais is the one place I would be heartbroken to miss. It is not to be skipped, by herbivores or omnivores. The French onion soup is a must. Every review will state this. I tend to order it and a salad (the big one with potatoes, tofu, and cheese that I never remember the name) and always feel pleasantly stuffed when I'm done. Of course, I always manage to make room for the chocolate mousse, because it is delicious (but very rich, you can easily share unless you *really* like chocolate). My husband likes to order different things, and has always been happy with his choices. This past visit he went with the quinoa burger (not on a bun) with mashed potatoes and he says it was excellent. Our son had the buckwheat crepe with leeks and mushrooms and, despite being a finicky five-year-old, devoured it. My omnivorous parents ordered lasagna (dad) and a veg plate (mom) and both enjoyed them. There was some confusion with my mother's order, in that her "vegetable plate" was actually just a salad (with shredded carrots, cucumbers, etc.) and her "green salad" was some greens and dressing - not what we expected. My mother ordered a fresh apple juice, which was incredibly yummy, though it was a carroty-orange color so we're not sure if there was something else in it (the flavor was all apple, so maybe just skins?) My husband ordered (as always) the lemonade and probably would have had multiples had they not cost so much. The rest of us just had tap water, which is brought in bottles and replenished consistently (and free!). The staff is always friendly and, while on the small side, the space is full of atmosphere and exactly what you'd hope to find in a classic (non-trendy) Parisian restaurant. Just be prepared to spend a lot, because it is not inexpensive (vegan + Paris = empty wallet).
