• Delicious multi course vegan, Tofu focused

Location: tosuiro has 2 restaurants, with clear local maps and photos on their English language website. We went to the Gion site: on Higashioji-dori btw Yasui Higashiyama and Yasui Konpriagu shrine. It's a few blocks south of the landmark Yasako shrine, down the street from a Lawson & across from a 7/11. It's an easy walk from the many temples in south Higashiyama, such as Chion-In. Ambiance and menu: the Gion site has an open kitchen tatami room, small garden and small dining room with Western. Style chairs & tables. The food is Beautifully presented, and servers are friendly, speaking some English. The all vegan set should be reserved a day in advance, by phone in Japanese. We asked our Air B&B host to make the call--no,problem. Dishes included chilled tofu, hot pot, grilled miso tofu, stuffed tofu , pickles, soy ice cream . A fabulous splurge in a tranquil atmosphere.
