  • Pizza is good, otherwise unimpressed

White Rock Pizza is located in a beautiful lakefront setting in Woodbury, Vermont. They have a bar and a nice dining room, as well as a wide porch for warm weather dining. It seems like a great spot to have a beer and a pie after hiking or skiing. While it's nice that they have Daiya cheese available, they don't seem all that tuned into their vegan guests. We sat down and diligently asked questions about the cheese (which is not mentioned on the menu) and the salad dressing ingredients. When the salads came out, there was a pile of (non-vegan) mozzarella on top, which had not been disclosed on the menu. When we finally were able to flag down the waitress after a few minutes, she said "oh, yeah. I forgot about the cheese." After that, she seemed to be done with us, as all of our food (including the over-delayed replacement salads) was delivered by another server. On top of it all, the salads were pretty bland and paltry for $6.50 each. The pizza itself was very good, though again the toppings ($1.50 each for a 12-inch pizza) were pretty skimpy. And the daiya came with an (undisclosed) $1.50 up charge. In the end we paid $50 after not-overly-generous tip for two drinks, two salads, and one 12-inch pizza. So while it's nice to have vegan pizza available (and there's not much else on the menu other than pizza and salad) and the atmosphere is good, White Rock disappointed with their indifferent service and their high prices.
