- The best Gongdelin in Shanghai
The place is very bright, has big glass windows, it has the best service of all Gongdelins and to top it off, free and fast wifi. Very French Concession, very expat friendly. I see people here complaining about the food, but visibly because they don't know and don't like Chinese food - which can be daunting for western palates. So make sure you know exactly what you're ordering. Is it sweet? Savory? Sour? Bitter? Fishy? My suggestion would be using the free wifi to google the recipes on offer. The mock meats here are fantastic and a safe bet would be the chicken with sticky rice - reminds me of McNuggets and barbecue sauce. I also like the steak with black pepper sauce.
