Hi Kimmyeats, Thanks for your feedback — it touches on a really important and nuanced topic. There’s currently no clear consensus within the vegan community about whether organic and biodynamic food is considered truly vegan, or whether conventionally (chemically) grown food should be seen as "more vegan" simply because it avoids animal-based composts or fertilisers. At Nevedya, we serve a menu that is about 95% vegan or available as a vegan option, and we’re proud to have a strong community of vegan customers who consciously choose to eat organic food with us — and consider it entirely in line with their values. We choose to use organic and biodynamic ingredients because they support soil health, biodiversity, and ecological balance, and avoid the synthetic pesticides and petrochemical fertilisers commonly used in conventional agriculture. While organic farms may use natural compost or manure, these inputs are very different from consuming meat, dairy, or eggs — and in fact help create living soils without contributing to the environmental harm of chemical farming. It’s also worth noting that conventional farming, while avoiding animal manures, or other animal by-products like blood & bone, it often causes greater harm to insects, birds, waterways, and long-term planetary health. So whether it’s “more vegan” is a complex question that many people in the vegan community are still exploring. We absolutely respect that people define veganism in different ways, and we welcome the conversation. Our mission is to serve food that is nourishing, almost entirely plant-based, and regenerative — made with care for both people and planet. Warmly, Daniel + the Nevedya team
