I appreciate your review! As a gentle cultural fyi 'soupy' dal is common in many parts of India (especially the South), though thicker North Indian dals like Dal Makhani and Dal Tadka are most commonly served to American diners. It's not for everyone, but that dal might have been made the way it's supposed to be!
