-Candle Cafe: again, really amazing place with prices like Blossom or Element. This place has been around for many years and is an institution now. I once bumped in Tobey Maguire there. This place is fantastic and the desserts are not to be missed. They even have their own cookbook which you can buy in the restaurant or on Amazon. -Dun-well Doughnuts: a brooklyn institution. 100% vegan. Their doughnuts are fantastic, and so many varieties! Great service, lots of coffees and teas and beverages as well. -Lily's Pantry: Formerly known as May Wah Vegetarian Market, this isn't actually a restaurant. It's a small vegan grocery store in Chinatown that has some of the best vegan substitutes in the world - all imported from China. They actually supply vegan meat for a ton of restaurants in NYC and the entire eastern seaboard - and you can order wholesale from their website as well. In fact, many vegan drumsticks you've had before (esp with a wooden rod inside) might have been bought from them. Bring a large cooler with ice packs and stock up! Some of my favorites which I've been getting from them for literally 20 years: chicken leg (with the wooden stick "bone", NOT the gross one with the sugarcane "bone"), citrus spare ribs, black pepper beef steak, gong bao chicken. NJ: sorry I don't know any places in NJ. Oy, sorry for writing a novel. haha
