Hey Tumbeddrylow, I hope you are enjoying the South! I used to be in NY all the time to visit family. I loved the pizza, bagels w/ shmear, and bakery treats before I made the switch to Vegan. I have only been to NY once since then. That time I tried Plant Queen and a bagel place that had tofutti cream cheese. I think I tried one or two more places, but I can't remember right now. Where else would you suggest if I had a day in NY and a day in NJ? Don't get me wrong Sugar is a good choice when you don't really have other yeast donut options. I LOVED Pepperbox because I enjoyed them even before I was vegan. I didn't even realize they were vegan until I made the switch. They were consistently yummy even 'til closing time. I rarely, if ever had a stale donut. Plus, they had a case full of unique donuts at every location. So I could get a dozen different donuts. AND they had an awe inspiring collection of teas. Lastly, they had just started to do a donut breakfast sandwich. Ridiculously good. If you like vegan donuts enough and you are in ATL I'd also recommend giving Five Daughters Bakery a try in Ponce Market. They will only have 1-2 options like sugar, but they are good as well. The Triangle is definitely trying! I enjoy what the owners of Element are doing. I am biased towards Element as their greatest creation. I have been to Marian for dinner and I think it could use a little work for the prices, but I will reserve my opinion until I try Lunch and Brunch too. Elements Sunday Brunch is delicious and VIBE! I used to go to Coco Bistro alll the time for Brunch. Then they added a dinner service cutting off Brunch and I haven't really been since. When we are over there I tend to go a little farther to Spotted Dog in Carrboro. I also really enjoyed Bonafide Bakery before they shut down last year... Such a treat. I am now trying to get more into the Durham Vegan scene to shack things up. I have tried Pure Soul, Common Market, Goorsha, and Everything Bagels in Durham Food Hall. I have many more places to go.
