Maharajah Patilala has been taken over by new owners since my last review, so this is a new one. One of those warm, unopressive Algarvian summer evenings in the charming and unpretentious town of Sao Bras de Alportel: there is no better place to dine than Maharajah Patiala. The new owners, George and Shiney, have preserved and built upon the charm and authenticity of the restaurant with a new, extensive menu. All three of us are Vegan, and Maharajah Patiala did not disappoint. The Onion Bhajis are infused with cumin seed and are delicious. The Vegetable Samsosa full of tasty, well-prepared vegetables. For the main course, we shared Chana Masala, Tarka Dal, Aloo Gobi, Vegetable Xacutti, Lemon Rice and Vegetable Saag: all were a delight and generous in their portion size. The Chapati, Roti and Naan were also very appetizing and great accompaniments to the meal. Each dish is unique and special in its own right, there is much interest and delight in the spicing of the food. Vegan dishes are readily avaiable and the staff are happy to prepare them.. The hospitality of George, Shiney and their staff is extraordinary, they make every customer feel like they are dining in their own home: Maharajah Patiala is a special experience, highly recommended!
