I believe it's a language and cultural barrier... My boyfriend and I went here in January of 2023 and yes, tatted up guy with gauges (the big earrings), took our order too. He was super kind and went out of his way to get us an Uber on his phone because we didn't have service/they didn't have wifi. They didn't speak a lick of English, though (nor should they), and we had to google translate everything. I can see how other Americans could take him as rude, but I never take other people's moods/attitudes personally, and I thought "they probably have to deal with entitled Americans speaking English to them all the time, when they have zero responsibility to learn OUR language". Our experience was amazing... we still dream of going back. Everything was absolutely delicious.
