I did at Bar & Gray’s. I think it’s a culture thing. The owner at Umm Kulthum seems Russian (from Georgia actually) and in this culture, it’s weird to smile for no reason or be friendly if you don’t feel it. Bar & Gray’s is owned by an Argentinian couple and in Latin culture, it’s rude not to smile and be warm and welcoming. The USA has also this “friendly=good service” culture and I’m from Latin and USA culture so I perceive the former as rude and unwelcoming.
