Dear Rebekah, Five months have passed since my first answer. In that moment I didn´t have enough time to write longer ( too busy-summer-time). Now in winter, with less movement, I can complete my answer about our prices. Thanks again for your feed-back, which helps us to make clear this important aspect. Since we started this project (2010) we try to practice realistic prices. Facing big challenges as to keep it affordable for all but and at the same time to keep the quality. One of our goals, as an association, is to contribute to create a "new food awareness " so we organise some activities as organic gardening, organic-vegan-workshops, and others wellness activities. We think is so important to spread the message to chose organic food, to support organic farmers, to support local producers. Our goal is not only to serve yummy dishes, but at the same time make them for enhance vitality and immunity. Our mission is to create consciousness and care for the body, the planet and the animals. Our activities have educational porpoises, and this implies amounts of dedication, energy and money. Our cookery is all home made, artisan kind, and take much more time than the conventional. We have our own production of veggies, long-term-fermentaion-bread, the pastries, the cakes, the empadas, kombucha, sauces, pickles, and other fermented food, etc. We use special ingredients like organic cereal (all of them), organic pasta, sea-weeds, coffee, or teas, we use only spelt organic flour (we stopped to use "normal" gmo wheat), all the veggies we use are fresh from our garden or small-organic-farmer production from our neighbourhood, not supermarket-veggies or frozen ingredients. And some of them are really gourmet. :) Yes, comparing with "normal" vegetarian or vegan restaurant maybe looks "over priced". Yes we choose organic, and this makes a big difference. Unfortunately in Portugal organic food is still more expensive. Hope the future be more "green" for all and in all senses! Again, gratitude for your visit and your review.
