Underrated

The food is SO good here. And you get so much for your money, HUGE burger and chips, rice or couscous and a salad with dressing. It’s good honest food, and so much better and cheaper than thrive 😉

Pros: It’s in the park!, A lot of food for your money

Cons: Shame they serve meat really 🤷🏼‍♀️

Decent vegan selection

Located in the park, just across the road from Solent University. Vegan options clearly labeled on the menu, with a decent variety. Offers food, juices, smoothies, as well as alcoholic drinks. Also has a miniature golf course!

Great!

Good place to visit in the city centre. Cafe Bar with mini golf. A lot of Vegan and Vegetarian options. Salads, burgers, paninis, Mediterranean platter to share, good selection of tea and drinks. I was able to order cappuccino with soya milk.
I had Aubergine Burger with chips on the side. Really tasty for £6,30

Yummy veggie and vegan options

The Flying Aubergine Cafe is a very lovely friendly place, close to, but out of sight of, the consumerist abyss that is central Southampton. It's one of the very few independent cafes / restaurants in Southampton and a refreshing alternative to the dreary, soulless chains overwhelming the rest of the city.

And... it has utterly yummy food, including one of the best selections of veggie and vegan options in Southampton. The Mediterranean / Middle Eastern flavour of the menu means that there's lots of delicious options including hummus, falafel, halloumi, ful medames, roast veggie salad and all sorts of other yumminess. Plus there are six (!) veggie/vegan burger options, a range of sandwiches and paninis, and at least a couple of vegan homemade cakes. They serve good coffee and tea and have plenty of beer, wine and other booze. (There are also fishy and meaty options if you're entertaining a carnivore.)

The cafe is cosy in the winter and particularly lovely in the summer when you can sit outside and people watch. All year round, it's my favourite place to find yummy vegan munch in Southampton.

Odd but lovely food

The vegan food here was delicious I had a sweet squash and chickpea burger with chips! They also had some vegan cake and bar options but I was full enough and wanted something hydrating like fruit from somewhere else! It was a bit odd though as it was in the middle of a park and it was quite quiet in there even with a reasonable amount of people there! But still a great place with vegan specific options!

Pros: Vegan food delicious, Seperate vegan burger menu and also vegan specials, Had some vegan cakes and bars even though I didn't

Cons: Serves meat, A bit to quiet I felt

Clearly labelled and nice food

Went here on a Facebook recommendation as I have only just realised they offer vegan food. We were greeted by a chilled counter with a selection of cakes by the door which was all clearly labelled (wheat, nuts, vegan etc)which was a good start. Also behind the counter there was a board giving the day's selection of vegan food (about 6 options) and the menu has a blue V indicating vegan dishes. Today there was the Ful Medamas, Veg and Hummus Panini, Veg Samosa, Veg soup and Jacket potato with beans. I had the Ful Medemas (which turned out to be a very tasty fava bean, lime and tahini stew with sesame bread) and my partner had the panini. The food took about 15 minutes to arrive, but looked freshly prepared and both had good flavour. There was about 4 vegan cakes and we had the fruit cake which was moist and very nice. About £15 for 2 light meals, 1 piece of cake and 2 teas - which I thought was very reasonable. Definitely worth the occasional visit.

Pros: Very clearly labelled, Nice food, Good choice of cake
