Fancy food! - Edit
They're very good at catering for vegan or vegetarian diets. The food is seasonal, flavourful, and the service is professional and friendly. It's not the best food I've had at a similar price point, but still a good place for a treat or celebration.

Lovely staff. I had included my diet when making the reservation so the staff was already aware if was getting the vegan menu. It does not say it on the menu so make sure to mention it when you make the reservation and check when you arrive. All the dishes were great, service was amazing and we left satisfied. They do a great vegan menu for an elevated dining experience.

We hebben hier erg goed gegeten. De plek is onpretentieus; er wordt niet veel met "fancy" ingrediënten gekookt en de bediening is informeel. Het eten spreekt voor zichzelf. Alleen het dessert vond ik niet interessant.

I am so happy to have this restaurant just around the corner. Even though the place isn’t vegan they have no problem providing a excellent, creative and tasteful menu. Therefor I have been here multiple times and will definitely be back!

Echt ongelooflijk lekker gegeten bij de kas. Wat een service, wat een smaken. Bij de reservering had ik aangeven dat 1 veganist zou mee eten, dit werd bij de tafel opgevat en werden er aanpassingen gedaan, boter voor brood, maar voor de vegan ook heerlijk olijfolie. We hebben alleen bij het aan tafel gaan aangegeven wie van ons vegan was, ongelooflijk dat wie er ook aan de tafel kwam, ik niet hoefde aan te geven dat ik degene was die plantaardig eet.

Aan tafel geef je aan dat je Vegan bent en het volledige menu wordt Vegan geserveerd. Waanzinnige smaken, concept, ambiance… perfectie. De papegaaien in t park geven t extra sfeer en een wandeling door de kruidentuin is waanzinnig. Ik ben echt helemaal onder de indruk van alles. It is a very interesting concept serving chefs menu from seasonal products. You can pre-define to choose fully vegan option. Food looks amazing and tastes same good. Staff is very friendly and explain in details what’s being served. The place is good for a date, as well for a bigger meeting as there’s plenty of space. You need to book the table upfront as usually waiting time is quite long.

The atmosphere is unparalleled. Inside a greenhouse in the middle of Frankendael park, with an open kitchen, plants and pickling jars everywhere. Very relaxing vibe. Very friendly and knowledgable staff.

Fantastische plek! - Edit
Mooie plek, zowel binnen als buiten. Hier een aantal dagen geleden buiten gegeten met als uitzicht de moestuin met veel voorbij vliegende parkieten. Je hebt geen idee dat je in hartje Amsterdam aan het eten bent.
Read moreHet eten zelf is goed op smaak en vers (hoe kan het ook anders als ze uit hun eigen moestuin halen). De gerechten zijn de ene keer verrassend en anderzijds viert het de puurheid van de ingrediënten.

Nice but expected a bit more I guess - Edit
Had a five course dinner here yesterday evening. Mentioned in the reservation that we are both vegan. Server also checked this with us when we were seated. Minutes later he brought us bread and tapioca crackers with a dip. Mentioned the dip has egg in it and "is that alright?". That felt a bit unprofessional to us.
Read moreThe food combinations were very original. Unfortunately it was not possible to have a vegan 6th course. Also one of the "completely vegan" dishes was served with grated truffle on top. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't animals always used to find the truffles, even on truffle plantations?
In the end we paid 232 euro excl. the tip (visitors from overseas: tipping is not customary in the Netherlands, so it's for you to decide if you want to tip or not) for 2x 5 courses, we shared a bottle of red wine (I think the most expensive red wine bottle on the menu was 75 euro but most were around the 40/50 euro mark), I also had a glass of another red wine and a glass of champagne to celebrate our engagement :), two coffees (decaf and oat milk available), two homemade limoncello (very strong) and two bottles of still water (which we think was just regular tap water for 3,75 per carafe).
We enjoyed our dinner but still were left wanting a bit more from the experience. They have a small greenhouse part in the restaurant where you can see different kinds of vegetables growing. That was fun to see.
Pros: Nice environment, Good quality food, Service is quick

Beautiful Memorable Five-Star Fine Dining Experience! - Edit
Let me just say, this has been one of the best meals I have ever had in my life. This place is just absolutely gorgeous, the staff is extremely accommodating and nice (which honestly is hard to come by in Amsterdam). They even got me a little pot of honey for my birthday (which I couldn't have, but it was a nice touch and a great little souvenir from the restaurant).

My boyfriend is not vegan, so he had the regular menu. I was initially a bit nervous since we were served the amouse bouche with a sauce that was not vegan, and was just told to not have the sauce for it to be vegan. However, for the rest of the courses, they really had different sauces on the vegan versions of the dishes. To be honest, the non-vegan option always looked a bit better, but everything was delicious and balanced nonetheless! Their ingredients are all fresh and local, and being there feels like you're outside of the city!
We were given the option to wait to see whether we wanted to order the 4 or 5 course menu depending on how full we were, which was nice! We also got a delicious little bite along with our coffee. I cannot recommend this place enough, I truly wish I could give five-stars to this place!
Pros: amazing creative and local food, excellent service!, beautiful vibe, location and restaurant!
Cons: vegan sauces could have been a bit better, need to book well in advance

A lifetime lunch experience in this greenhouse restaurant, whose menu changes depending on what is being harvested. All the dishes are carefully prepared and service is very good. We tried some red and yellow beetroots with rhubarb and almond crumble, and a beautiful courgette flower tempura.

We really enjoyed our lovely, fresh and tasty vegan lunch at de kas. We had made a reservation in advance, asking for vegan food which was absolutely no problem. I had dinner here in spring '08 on a special occasion and was well-catered for as a vegetarian. The waitstaff was extremely professional and took the time to solicit my preferences and explain my courses to me, while my companions happily ate non-veg fare. One course with white beans and a poached egg was very good. Another one with beets and a creamy cheese was delicious as well. I also recall fresh, springy lettuces from their on-premise gardens. Very nice atmosphere; like eating in a greenhouse.

With an emphasis on local, seasonal and organic ingredients De Kas is what all other restaurants should be measured by. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Be sure to arrive early so that you can view the beautiful grounds.
