Delicious food, great music - Edit
The food was spectacular, although the hummus tasted a bit strange (not expired strange just different than I’d ever had before). The tofu scramble was stellar and presentation was beautiful. Staff are friendly and have a good taste in music too!

Quiet breakfast - Edit
I had a delicious breakfast at Zaco, enjoying my first morning in Bali. It's down a quiet street in Kuta, off the main strip, meaning you can sit peacefully and enjoy your meal without the hubbub (or people whizzing past on mopeds with cigarettes in their mouths).
Read moreThe staff were kind and very genuine. The menu has a good selection and the items are clearly marked vegetarian or vegan so no need to ask awkward questions. I had an iced long black (which, if you're used to Melbourne standards was poor, but for caffeine intake it sufficed) and the scrambled tofu. The food was brilliant and I'd certainly be back for that alone. They also have good wifi there so I sat for a couple of hours and worked at the back (they have a secret charging plug, but you'll have to ask where it is because it's so well hidden!)
One word of warning is that their choice of music isn't to everyone's tastes. Some people don't enjoy heavy metal at 8am, but I'm sure I'm in a minority there! Can I advise bringing headphones if, like me, you want to avoid both their musical taste and an umcomfortable conversation about it.
Overall, a really lovely experience and if I was staying longer I'd return.

Hidden Gem - Edit
A contemporary bistro hidden in the windy Poppies Lane is a great place for with plenty of choice for vegans and vegetarians. Lovely atmosphere and the staff are super nice.

Read moreVegan and veggie options are very clearly indicated on the menu. The staff also seem to be on top of the ingredients list. The food was simply delicious. I had the tofu scramble bowl and it was great (the pita bread was probably the best I've ever had). They have plenty of drinks option as well, and oat milk for coffee.
The service was really quick and the staff are kind and welcoming. I would defo recommend visiting if you're in Kuta!
