v proud of whole foods

i grew up going 2 whole foods every sunday evening w my mom 4 our weekly groceries. it was 1 of my fav activities. wed often stop @ the barnes a nobles nearby and get a book / a plushie / a dvd 4 me as well !! sooo mayb im a bit biased. but idk i j feel so happy 2 see how many vegan options they have now !! obv like all markets there r healthier less processed items as well as the highly processed items. i dont think thts rly a bad thing tho ... its good 2 have a wide variety and those highly processed items help non - vegans make the transition as theyre usually p spot on in replicating the taste and texture of meat. little things tho like i wish their actual egg / dairy / meat selection was smaller [ im actually sorta ok w all the non - vegan packaged things ... those r less appetizing 2 non vegans i think ] ... but idk i j felt like their egg and dairy sections were hugeeeee. i didnt rly look @ the meat selection bcs tht makes me rly rly grossed out lol. but idk i j feel like it was kinda jarring how big their selection was. i did appreciate tht they kept the vegan yoghurts and milks separate from the normal dairy !! tht was nice. and the meat substitutes were p much on the opposite ends of the store !! tht was admirable. didnt like tht the vegan cheeses and spreads were so close 2 the eggs tho lol. and i noticed in the frozen food section everything was sorta mixed arnd. i suppose theres good and bad 2 tht ? like its good tht non - vegans will b more likely 2 see the vegan stuff if its mixed in rather than completely separate but also as a vegan i dont like having 2 rly look super close 2 find whts vegan and whts not. also i dont like the thought of tht stuff being so close. idk. cross contamination thoughts ... itd j b nice if the vegan stuff in general was more separate from the non vegan stuff. i think thts my overall preference. butttt it cant b perfect i suppose^^ !! oh smth else also. when u 1st walk in2 this location its all the fruit and fresh veggies and stuff which is nice. but then 2 get 2 the rest of the store u have 2 paths. 1 is 2 go thru the fish section and the other is 2 go thru the cheese and meat sections. ahhhh. scary. the fish section is shorter ... but even if i look away the smell of their corpses is overwhelming... so heartbreaking. i did not like tht. anyway this was sorta a rant but heavy emphasis on the fact tht ur forced 2 either go thru the fish or cheese and meat sections ... not so cool. im out of space omg loll !!

Pros: v good selection of vegan items !!^^, clean, pretty inside

Cons: forced 2 go thru the fish or the cheese and meat , plz keep vegan items separate from non - vegan 1s , ridiculously large dairy and egg sections

Handy

I used to l love Wholefoods but feel that have really gone backwards since their buyout.
It’s easy to find and has plenty of options I have started to check products are not coated in wax and read ingredients which is something I used to trust them for.

Pros: Vegan options, Staff

Cons: Quality, Price

Not for vegetarians

The market is huge and well sorted; the food buffet does not have any labeling for vegetarian (except sometime a couple of dishes that have vegan in the name) and supposedly vegetarian dishes (also not more than a couple of dishes, the rest is plain veggies or plain beans) are side by side with meat dishes. Only if there is nothing else to eat I would recommend this for vegans.

Great vegan options

I was so impressed with the vegan food selection and amazing labelling here.

I tried:
- vegan pulled jackfruit burrito: was really good! My omni colleague also had it one day and loved it :)
- vegan pizza slice: liked the base, but too much Daiya cheeze on it for me, i couldn't finish it
- Salad bar: wow ridiculous number of vegan options. I kept adding and ended up with a huge bowl. Suggest to walk around before filling up to refine your choices!
- Vegan cupcakes (go to the ready dessert section)

There is a massive seating area upstairs, nice and comfortable. Suggest to go there if you aren't taking away.

It's open till 11pm which is a plus when looking for vegan food in the Financial District area late at night.

Pros: Tasty and numerous vegan options, Lots of seating upstairs, Open till late!

Good Vegan Options!

We stayed in a hotel not far from this location during our most recent visit to NYC. We walked by this location, and decided to stop by to see if there were any viable options for dinner. We actually had intended to check out the food bar, but instead, stopped by the Burger Station to see about having them prepare vegan burgers for us. I can't speak for everyone's food preparation (safe vegan food practices) at this location, but the woman that served us was extremely careful about changing her gloves frequently, she prepared all of our food on a separate burner (the location where they toast the bread), and she even walked over to the pizza area to pick us up some daiya cheese, as they don't currently offer a vegan cheese burger option at the burger station. We decided to venture back to the hotel to enjoy our food, and it was still quite delicious by the time we got there!

Pros: Good Vegan Burger Option!

Whole Foods Market

This Whole Foods is close to the hotel that I stayed in during my trip in August. There were many vegan options at this location, many of which I was unfamiliar with since WF stocks differing items in the varying regions. I got a prepackaged pasta item, a vegan whoopie pie, and a Crisp candy bar for later (all of which I cannot get back at home). Everything was good. This location is also convenient if you're visiting the WTC memorial, we walked over there with no problem.
