Health foods

Whenever I can’t find something specific at a Trader Joe’s, I head to Whole Foods for the wider variety of groceries. They have a vegan section with cheeses, meats, and tofus.

Pros: Quite a few vegan groceries , Fairly priced

Variety but Expensive

Tons of vegan faux foods, local finds, and organic produce. Great place to find faux meats, diaya cheese, vegan bakery items, and bulk items. Only downside is that it can get expensive. For similar options at a bit lower price, Lucky’s is reccomended.

Pros: Variety

Cons: Expensive

Meatless Monday

There are enough reviews here for the grocery store, so I'll tell you about the hot bar and salad bar. There are always vegan options, and it's weighed by pound. If you go on Mondays, they charge all that you can fit on a plate with a lid on for $8 as long as you have no meat products (vegetarian is fine!). It's a great deal!

A Great Place for New Vegans

Being new to the no meat, no dairy lifestyle can be overwhelming in today's world. Whole Foods Market is a great place to start and establish roots. You can buy natural stuff AND most importantly I s you can taste test foods that have been prepared onsite that are vegan/ vegetarian.

Pros: Large selection, Helpful staff, Calmn environment

Cons: Location difficult to get to, Eating area right next to checkout, Nutrition listing not avail for prepared food

Excellent Selection of Vegan Items

The Louisville Whole Foods edges out my "home" Whole Foods in Lincoln Park (Chicago) as my all time favorite. Sure, the Lincoln Park location has a much better salad bar selection and restaurants inside the store. But the Louisville location has a ton of vegan items. Just as many, if not more, as much larger Whole Foods carry. (One caveat, I shopped here only once and it's possible I just got lucky and they don't always carry so many vegan items.)

Another thing that sets this Whole Foods apart is the friendliness of the staff. Most WF's have great staff, but these guys are outstanding.

You must go to the deli case and see if they have the vegan chicken salad. It's pure heaven. That and a loaf of bread made a great lunch.

Typical WF, but that's a good thing

This Whole Foods is a pretty standard-size WF with all the options you'd expect from the chain: organic produce, huge packaged food aisles, good vegan cheese/meat selection, and a great deli. The deli here is outstanding and they'll often feature some really good vegan dishes like general tso's "chicken" or a seitan marsala dish. They also have vegan cupcakes every day made by the same lady who makes them at Jamie's 14K, but they are a bit different here (more icing). They'll do vegan pizzas and all that as well (with Daiya) and they do carry a good amount of local stuff as well. It may be a giant chain and corporate, but you sure can get a lot of solid vegan food here, so I return month after month.

Pros: vegan-friendly, okay pricing, variety

Cons: location

Love this place!!

I found this Whole Foods Market by accident one day while I was cruising Shelbyville Road. It's the first one I had ever been to and I get so excited to go back! It's a great place to eat lunch then do some grocery shopping. Hope one day there will be one closer to Owensboro!

Pros: buffet, selection, location

Cons: speed bumps
