cake only

this place is now called 'cake of steel', serving only cakes, milkshakes and smoothies/hot drinks during weekdays and also some vegan hot dogs and burgers on the weekend. This place isnt fully vegan.

Pros: Amazing vegan cakes & inexpensive

Cons: Not fully vegan, no full meal on week days

A Little Gem

I have eaten here a number of times. It is the best vegan restaurant in Sheffield, and one that can be relied on to provide good quality, and varied food that even meat eaters can enjoy. Of course, purists might object to the 'steak and potato pie' made with vegetable-meat substitute, but it is good that they provide something for those of us who are not that familiar with vegan food. Even so, if a broad minded meat eater wants to try anything on the varied menu I am confident it will be found to be full of taste. There is a vegan equivalent of that old English favourite, the full English breakfast. I tried it and the tofu 'egg substitutes' were delicious! There are other items made of tofu, including a cheese substitute. But there is also an amazing variety of dishes, including a Cashew Korma with rice and a poppadom. There is also vegan chili and rice, but there are other options beside rice such as chips or baked potatoes. There are also interesting sandwiches such as the avocado, tomato and pesto Panini. But don't take my words for it; go there and experiment. You won't be disappointed! All in all an inexpensive, varied and delicious dining experience. If only they opened later. But never mind. You can always take one of their pasties away with you for only £2.50. And they have an amazing range of Vegan and gluten free cakes. All in all, a little gem!

Pros: Excellent variety of food, Friendly Staff, Very inexpensive

Needs to improve.

Went with my wife2 weeks, ago. Cafe half full. It took 45 minutes for them to serve a vegan hotdog, which at 4 quid isvery expensive, plus my pasty "with chips and peas" declared the menu. I got a tiny bowl of McD type fries, a further tiny bowl of mushy peas, and a burnt pasty of vegan cheese with vegan sausage inside it. They need to let customers know the food will be a while but no eye contact, to the point we wondered if we would get fed at all. Soya milk in my tea was vanilla flavoured!! Unbelievable.

Pros: vegan

Cons: price, staff do not talk to customers., fries not the chips advertised

Hi there,
I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your meal with us. We use the "French fry" style chips because the majority of our customers prefer this type of chip. When we get busy it can get tricky as we don't have a lot of space. As for the soya milk we only have "original" soya and never stock vanilla.
Thank you for your feedback we take all our feedback into consideration.

Delicious unique desserts

Theo's place has some of the best vegan desserts I've had anywhere. Very large selection of not just cakes but pies, tarts, etc.

The workers and owner are friendly. They let dogs in which was nice for us. It says Steel City Cakes on the sign.

The food on the menu is pleasant and all vegan. Will go back next time I'm in Sheffield!

Pros: best desserts anywhere, yummy desserts!, good food
