Best dessert in Toronto!

If you love Japanese desserts this place will not disappoint. I have gone to Tsuchi Cafe multiple times and it’s a heavenly experience each time!

Kare pan, tarts and onigiri are a must try!! Their pop ups and limited time items are also outstanding and always worth it!

Pros: Amazing food, Great options, Sweet and savoury options

Cons: Limited seating

Exquisite, yet humble food & space

"Tsuchi" translates to "soil" in Japanese, symbolizing a foundation that nurtures life and growth. Venturing into Tsuchi Cafe, I fell in love with every aspect as they embraced this beautiful concept. The ambiance gracefully transported me back to Japan, the service was efficient, and the food experience was nothing short of perfection.

Choosing where to begin was a delightful challenge, but the allure of a "savory donut" drew me to the Kare Pan. This fluffy bread, stuffed with the signature 12 spice "beef" curry, coated in sourdough panko, and fried to crispy perfection, left me in awe. The juxtaposition of the crunchy exterior and fluffy interior, housing tender "beef" curry with just the right hint of heat, made each bite a unique and satisfying experience. I loved it so much that I couldn't resist ordering another one to go!

Craving something sweet, I ordered the Silky Vanilla Flan, described as one of Japan's most popular sweets. The custard's silky texture, infused with traditional flavors and drizzled with caramel syrup, left me calling it "absurdly good" in my vlog. The sweetness was perfectly balanced, with fresh vanilla bean flavor and a delightful burnt caramel taste. I savored every silky bite, even appreciating the jar it came in enough to bring it back to the states for reuse.

I also ordered an Oat Milk Cappuccino, yet the delectable food stole the spotlight, making it challenging to divert my attention elsewhere.

Conveniently situated on College St., Tsuchi Cafe offers a few indoor tables, and I suspect there might be outdoor seating in the summer. Among the stellar plant-based spots in Toronto, this one takes the top spot in my book!

Absolutely delightful

I’ve been wanting to visit for a long time and I’m happy to have made the trip. The cafe is small with very limited seating but they have wonderful desserts, snacks and tea. If ever you are in the area or are wondering if it’s worth the effort to battle traffic and lack of parking, this place is delightful.

Pros: Wonderful snacks, Great teas, Delicious cakes and cookies

Cons: Very small and little space , Hard to get to

Seasonal desserts

Everything here looks so good that it's hard to make a decision, but the pistachio matcha tart was perfect! It's the best dessert I've had recently. I'll have to come back to try the Miso Caramel Kabocha Cheesecake.

All the sweets and savories are labeled accordingly for gluten-free/nut free/soy free. I love places that do this!

Service is very fast and friendly. A truly wonderful Japanese bakery. The only downside is that it's hard to find seating

The 3 G's Good Food, Good Service, Good Vibes

The food was delicious for starters, and the overall vibe of the place was calming and nice. I told the staff it was my first time there and they really were so kind.

Would highly recommend checking them out if you haven't already.

Pros: Amazing Food, Friendly Staff, Awesome Vibe

Cons: Not to much space to sit

Definitely the best vegan bakery in town

Cute place, good food and drinks! A little pricey, but I'm ok with that since it's all good quality.

Authentic Japanese food

I haven’t Japanese cafe food or curry as authentic as this place anywhere else in Canada. The yuzu cake was amazing and the curry was so satisfying. Don’t miss it.

Delicious desserts

We took a few to go - I haven't had tiramisu for about 7 years and it was delicious! We also tried the citrus dessert which was good too

Pros: Visually beautiful desserts, Amazing tiramisu, Cute cafe

Cons: Desserts are expensive so don't be surprised

So cool!

I've never been to Japan, but I'd like to imagine that it's just like Tsuchi Café. We just popped in on our way out of Toronto, but what a great little place. The signage isn't really helpful, so you're likely to walk right past it!

I had a sandwich, a donut and a custard bun and they were all so good! They were really busy but everybody was so nice and friendly. The clientele seemed really chill and laid-back.

Pros: Great food, Bidet in the washroom?!?!

Cons: Poor street signage, Sketchy area

amazing

cute and cozy atmosphere inside the cafe. delicious treats and drinks. I love to grab some bites here and chill. The cheesecakes taste just like the real thing and are very creamy. I also highly recommend the karepan (curry bun), which they sell as a take-home frozen package (IMO it’s even better when eaten hot)

Pros: cozy atmosphere , nice interior design, delicious plant based food

Cons: price , not a lot of seating, especially if it’s busy

Maybe my favourite vegan spot in the city!

Everything is good and I’m not exaggerating. I have tried almost all of their items and they don’t miss. Also, they put thought into everything. Cups have paper lids, washrooms are always immaculate and the service is amazing.

Good food but could use more seating

I was intent on trying the curry rice and/or other hot food items, but unfortunately the kitchen only opens on weekends and I was out of luck. Bummer! I ended up getting a kare pan (fried curry bread) and a matcha tiramisu; both were delicious. I did also check out the bathrooms because of the review below and, yes, there were very much aesthetically designed. All that said, seating was very limited—there were only three tables with six seats total and a bench by the entrance with three low coffee tables that were not at all comfortable for dining in.

Pros: delicious food

Cons: limited seating, kitchen only open on weekends

Best bakery in Toronto!

I love this place so much and go often. Everything I’ve tried is so delicious, both sweet and savory options. Popular so it’s hard to find seating inside, but patio seating is available in the summer. They also do takeout/delivery. I recommend this to everyone all the time! Also weird to add but they have great bathrooms!! The inside decor is really nice.

Pros: Taste, Presentation, Atmosphere

Cons: Hard to find seating

A lovely place to visit with some hard to find food.

Come here early as the better offerings can sell out by the the afternoon. Reminds me of Chinese Bakeries but this one allows for us Vegans to eat here too.

Pros: Karepan (Beef Curry Bun), Tsuchi Morning Sando (Sausage and Egg McMuffin), Old Fashion Donut

Cons: Katsu Sando (Not a fan of Horseradish), Could use more savoury items, Storefront not easy to spot

beyond Beyond, impossibler than Impossible

The best vegan burger I’ve ever had. Period.

3 years of being vegan and nothing comes close. House made patty bursting with spices, yakiniku sauteed mushrooms and spicy mustard.

Also had tiramisu tart and hot coco. Both were delightful.
