New Separate Vegan Menu - Edit
The Grumpy Bear has launched a new separate vegan menu, featuring Wakao Foods plant-based meat substitutes made using jackfruit (*may contain alliums, allium-free customisation available upon request). Surprisingly, while I expected the texture of the jackfruit 'meat' to be quite tough or fibrous, the sausages and patties had a very smooth and soft texture. The staff seemed quite well-informed on different dietary preferences and were also happy to swap out the Wakao products, e.g. spicy or non-spicy burger patties, spicy or herbed sausages, etc. Among the several dishes I tried, my personal favourite was the Wakao Sausage in Tomato Sauce Served with Yuzu Fusilli & Vegan Coleslaw, as the side dishes were refreshing and something different from the standard fare!
