Big portions, great view

Cute hostel that offers vegan options. The portions are pretty big. The waiteres spoke English and understood what vegan means. We ordered papaya salad and another tofu dish. They were both excellent. I also ordered a mango smoothie with a shot of rum which I didn't like much but maybe it was a weird combination I asked for.

Love the rooftop, food disappointing.

I definitely recommend this place for a drink. The rooftop has an amazing view and a really nice atmosphere. I was disappointed about the veggie burger. It was white bread, with unflavored tofu, lettuce and tomato. It simply lacked imagination. Good prices though and friendly staff.

Pros: Amazing rooftop, Friendly staff , Inexpensive

Cons: Lack of imagination, No soy milk, Bland

Tasty Pad Thai and Spring Rolls

The Pad Thai came large and tasty, along with some lovely, fresh spring rolls. We asked for no egg and no fish sauce to which our waitress asked if we we were vegan :).

The fresh spring rolls came with a fish sauce dipping sauce, and so we asked if we could swap this for soy sauce; we weren't annoyed in any way nor did we show impatience but she still brought us two Bia Hai Phongs (Hai Phong Local Beer 🍻) to apologise for the mistake: such a lovely touch and so unexpected!

Also, you can't beat the view from the rooftop!

Pros: Attentive and knowledgeable about veganism, So apologetic they gave us free beer!

Awesome view & good food

Have tried the tofu fried rice, pad Thai, banana flower salad and fresh spring rolls, everything was pretty tasty and a large portion. Staff all seemed familiar with veganism. Prices are reasonable (generally 40-50k for mains) especially considering the view from the rooftop terrace. Mango juice was a bit overpriced though, tasted watery. But the pineapple ginger mojitos were really nice. It’s a good place to meet people or chill for a while with beers, and live music some nights. Sometimes there are kittens too!

Disappointing

I am so disappointed with the curry... I expected a lovely creamy coconut curry but what I got was not a curry so much as a curry flavored ragout. It was super salty and the consistency was very thick, from all the flour used (and butter and milk?), and is making my tummy ache right now. Not at all the nutritious dish I was hoping for. :(

great veggie curry

Nice roof top terrace looking over the bay. Loved the veggie curry but the spring rolls tasted a bit funky. A good spot in Cat Ba.

skip if you can

For all the flavours Vietnam has to offer the food here had none. It was very bland and fast food like. The Bun Chai was good though. The noodle soup-not at all.

Pros: outside eating area

Cons: food had no flavour

A fair amount of veggie items which can be made vegan

One day I had the banana flower salad which was tasty and a good portion size.
The next day I tried one of the smoothie bowls although they were well overpriced at 90k and came with barely any toppings. Also on the page it has a vegan sign, however clearly from reading the ingredients of the smoothies they are far from vegan as many include milk, yogurt and honey. I asked for mine to be made vegan using almond milk and there was no problem doing this. Just be sure to check the ingredients before you order.

Pros: Nice view over the harbour

Cons: Not enough vegan choices, Confusing labelling , Overpriced smoothie bowl
