Yummy Dosa

The masala Dosa was yummy. Never had before. I guess I don't know indian food like I thought I did haha.

They said they could remove the ghee.

I wasn't amazed though

Pros: Flavor

Cons: Had to explain vegan

nice

i felt like the menu had less vegan options than hotel saravana bhavan, but karnataka was cheaper in price. the sambar was spicier here than any other place i've tried. if you're in the area, karnataka is a nice option, but it's nothing to go out of your way for.

A notch above the usual South Indian fare

Most South Indian restaurants in North India have more or less the same menu and more or less the same taste and texture.

Not so, Karnataka. Here, you'll find the usual suspects, too, but also a selection of unusual and creative variations. I had the "Special Mysore Palak Masala Dosa," which was exquisitely tasty, and each half of it had different stuffing (one side with greens), making for more interesting eating.

I didn't sample the North Indian fare, but it's there for those who prefer it.

Fresh juice is a plus, prices are reasonable, and service was friendly and attentive.

The location is convenient, being about 30 steps from the Green Park Metro station.

All of this makes Karnataka a great option if you're in or near the Green Park Area (though you might also consider Tattva in Hauz Khas Village if you're up for a splash, as it's organic and super vegan-friendly).

Pros: Exceptional South Indian dishes, Reasonably vegan-friendly, Fresh juices

Cons: Vegans must ask about ghee, paneer, etc.
