Okay

Food was okay, a bit expensive. I had the vegan bowl which was not really a bowl and more a curry with a lot of rice.

Spicy Indian Food Fast & Casual

"Lentil soup is mental fruit & ginger root is good for you" --Dead Prez

One thing to know is that Curry Up Now tends to be on the spicy side so if you don't like spicy food know this in advance. I am not sure if the cooks can customize making the food milder yet if you tend to prefer milder more sattvic cuisine it would be worth inquiring at least when you place your order as the Curry Up Now seems to serve their food by default spicy.

I decided to go w/ the deconstructed samosa which is an inside out phenomenon loaded w/ chana, pico kachumber, chutneys, crispy sev noodles, & mini samosas. I added tofu & there is an option to also add non-veg if you roll that way. I enjoyed the deconstructed samosa quite a lot & didn't mind it being on the spicy side as have had my taste buds burned off when I spent three years abroad in India over several winters back in the day.

Looking forward to future visits here.

Pros: Spicy Indian Food Fast & Casual

Great vegetarian options

I thought this place was great, so many vegetarian options throughout the menu and so many things could be made vegan as well with simple modifications like no butter (clearly marked). server was very helpful and seemed used to vegetarian/vegan requests

Hella Vegan Hella Good

Menu has several vegan options that are clearly labeled as such. Very quick service, and the food is soo tasty. The Hella Vegan bowl is huge, has yellow rice on chutney on chickpeas on a samosa. So tasty.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Clearly labeled vegan options, Huge portions

Fine

The curry here is good but it bothers me that removing the cheese to make something vegan doesn’t give you a discount. It’s very expensive for what it is.

Pros: Vegan options marked , Good flavours

Cons: Expensive

Be careful of cross contamination

I ordered a vegan meal from here and got served chicken 😭 I phoned them up and they were adamant it was soy protein and asked me to send them a picture where they confirmed it was chicken, I’ve read a few other reviews that have also mentioned cross contamination on google and grubhub. It’s a shame because the vegan options I’ve had here before are really good but the experience was enough for me to not personally eat there again.

Fun, delicious vegan options

Curry up now offers Indian street food, and their vegan options are plentiful. My go-to is the hella vegan burrito, which contains a deconstructed samosa, chickpeas, and a mix of tasty spices/sauce. Depending how many people I’m with and/or how hungry I am, I might also throw in the vegan sexy fries, which are sort of an Indian nacho fries.

Pros: Many vegan options, Accommodates non-veg and veg alike

Cons: Pricey (but in line with most of SF)

Curry Up Now

OK. I was shockingly surprised. This place was GOOD.

There were so many vegan options, so it was difficult for me to pick what I wanted to eat. But nonetheless, the friendly guy at the register helped me pick and I landed on the deconstructed samosa.

IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL LITTLE DISH. Not only was the deconstructed samosa beautiful, it tasted damn delicious. There were even cute little mini samosas in the dish with a large tasty deconstructed samosa. I also chose the aloo gobi topping and liked it, though, I might try the tofu topping next time.

They gave me their hottest sauce upon my request and this made me happy. I'm tired of Indian places serving me weak, piss poor, bland "hot/spicy" sauces because most American's can't handle the heat...not Curry Up Now! They listen. Their spicy sauce is SPICY. :D

I would eat here again. It's cheap, easy, super tasty, and yeah, what else more can I say?

Casual and fun Indian street food

I used to chase Curry Up Now food trucks around the city to get ahold of the tasty (and maybe addicting) burritos and deconstructed samosas. Now they have this fixed location in the Mission. It's very hard to park in this area, but worth it to take transit there. They also serve drinks here now too I believe and have an expanded menu.

If you haven't had Indian street food before, think of favorite Indian flavors and ingredients wrapped into hand-held, easy to eat forms. Take a plate of rice, chickpeas and vegetables and wrap it in a tortilla for a burrito or pour it over chips for nachos. Definitely worth a try.

I'll admit, many of the dishes here are in the not-so-healthy range, featuring plenty of fried goodness alongside some fresh veggies. They are, however, very conscious of eating restrictions, featuring separate menus of gluten-free and vegan choices, respectively. They do warn that everything's made in the same kitchen.

Like most places in the Mission neighborhood, it's full of hipster vibe. You'll be drinking out of mason jars and all that jazz.

Pros: Inexpensive, Fast, Tasty

Cons: Maybe not so healthy, Don't try to park
