Decent Chinese vegan options

I like the food, wish it were labeled vegan instead of vegetarian where applicable.

Pros: Vegetarian menu section , Food is very tasty

Cons: 3.95 fee to get brown rice instead of white., 4% processing fee for credit card payments., Neither of those fees are disclosed in advance.

One of the best options in Mount Pleasant!

Like another reviewer has said, most of the menu items are meat based but this is also the most veggie/vegan friendly restaurant I've been to in a while. I came here before going vegan so I knew the food was good and was pleased to see there vegetarian section of the menu while transitioning. They offer vegetable based dishes, tofu, and an abnormally large selection of "mock" meat dishes. The first time I ordered one I honestly wasn't expecting much because usually eating out as a vegetarian or vegan is disappointing, but it was delicious! The staff knows the menu well and is helpful on picking the right dish and customizing. Highly highly recommend this place!

So vegan friendly!

I am a vegan student in Mt. Pleasant and it is very hard to find vegan or even vegetarian options around here, but China Garden offers amazing, healthy vegan food at a reasonable price. Basically everything on the "vegetarian special" portion of the menu is vegan, except for 2 dishes that have egg in them, which can be made without the egg. The staff understands veganism and will be able to answer your questions and they are all very friendly and provide fast service. There are TONS of fake meat options that come with rice and vegetables and they are absolutely delicious -- I always get the vegetarian general chicken. As far as I know, most of the sauces are made with fruit, and you can get steamed brown rice, so it's a healthy option for chinese food. Vegetarian specials range are $8-$9, I never spend more than $10-$11 on a carry out. China Garden has been rated the #1 Chinese food in Isabella County for 7 years and I can definitely say that they deserve it!
