Farmer's Market located next to Thomds Centennial Park. More than 100 vendors. Sells breads, pastries, pies, some ethnic food, lots of fresh produce, nuts and dried fruit and more. Local artists, flowers, rare books, jewelry and clothing. Live entertainment from 10am-1pm. Vegan and vegetarian friendly except for one vendor. Open Sat 8:00am-2:00pm. May to end of October.

Farmer's Market

They always have handcrafted bath products, lotions, aprons, and body sprays from Edgewater Cottage in Valpo. There are picnic benches nearby where you can grab a seat and enjoy your treats. That's the good part. The bad part is this market is not 100% vegetarian. Overall it's veg-friendly but as the Happy Cow description says, there's one exception- Birky Family Farms who is usually a vendor. A small family farmer who's been in the area since 1919, unfortunately he raises pigs. I do not know how well he treats them, does he use gestation crates, are their tails docked, are they able to roam freely, etc. I know I should be glad that at least the pigs are not factory farmed, but still. In any event, you will want to absolutely avoid his booth...pulled pork sandwiches, ribs of what I'm sure were wonderful pigs, etc.

p.s. if anyone locally sees this review, knows this farmer and how he treats his animals, please PM me.

I give it 3 cows b/c of the farmer above and also b/c it's veg-friendly but not much is vegan friendly.
