Relaxed and friendly

Found this little gem just outside our hotel. We were half board but lunches here were a must. Has a small menu but the food was lovely and service incredibly friendly and helpful. We are vegetarians but vegans also well catered for. Is small but we'll laid out with a nice garden area to sit out and eat.

Awesome!!!

By the time we got to Sorrento, I couldn't look at another pizza senza formaggio or penne Napoletana!!!
This place is just full of veggie goodness!!
I piled up a plate full of sautéed vegetables, and happily are the lot!!!
This place is heaven!!
The owners are lovely, and will go the extra mile to accommodate an English speaking vegan!!!

We popped in here often whilst on holiday!

Although we were staying half board in a hotel whilst in Sorrento this was a nice find. We ate once in their café outside under umbrellas as it was really hot! We enjoyed our meals but unfortunately they did overcharge us. They rectified this after we pointed out that they had also charged us for someone else's meals too! The little shop has a number of vegan goodies including takeaway food items. We even bought vegan cheese that our hotel put onto pizza for us!! Would definitely go back to both the shop and the café if we are ever in Sorrento again.

Pros: Vegan Choices

Cons: Slightly out of the main shopping area

Vegan Options

We had both lunch on our own here as well as a group dinner for a tour. The vegan options were very tasty which included gnocchi and ravioli for lunch. The group dinner was a mix of various different entrees including salad, bruschetta, seitan stew, tofu and more. The service was provided by the owner who was very nice and spoke excellent English. We ate outside on both occasions which was lovely. Overall, we enjoyed our meals here, especially since they are the only veggie place in town, but we always wish places were all vegan. The vegan items were clearly noted on the menu, but the store had many non-vegan items although we bought a few things to go.

Pros: vegan items clearly marked, nice owner, good atmosphere

Cons: not all vegan

Tasty food

I went here for dinner on my holiday to sorrento. The owner was nice and the food was tasty - but to be honest I am not sure what you can get here that you could not get in one of the other restaurants, other than meat subsitutes. I had the pasta with seitan ragout. Was pretty much just seitan in tomato sauce with pasta. Not many people in the restaurant, so the atmosphere was a little dull. It is a shame as the location is nice and it has so much potential. The wine was lovely.

Pros: many vegan options, friendly owner and knows vegan food, Not many other vegan options

Cons: Very quiet, Menu a little on the boring side

Great restaurant; Happy Cow has wrong address

LOCATION ON HAPPY COW IS WRONG! Correct location is Via degli Aranci, 108. Wonderful food, good value, located at the back of a health food store. Has a small covered patio with 5 tables for dining as well as 2 tables inside. Extremely pleasant and friendly service. Highly recommended!

A great find

After a week in Italy I was growing tired of the same pasta and pizza and salad dishes so I was delighted when I came across Mondo Bio.

They have a good range of dishes and some of the most delicious tofu recipes I have ever had.

The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Pros: delicious food

The only vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Sorrento

During a two week holiday in Sorrento, I shopped at Mondo Bio multiple times as it is the only organic and vegetarian/vegan shop and restaurant in town.

The restaurant, more of a café really offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. For lunch, I bought a vegan calzone to take away, which was stuffed with vegetables and a rice based mozzarella like cheese and cost 2.50 EUR.

I also had dinner at Mondo Bio and chose a mixed salad and the gnocchi. The mixed salad was green lettuce with sweet corn, tomatoes and grated cucumber. The vegan option of the gnocchi came with tomato sauce and some of the rice-based mozzarella. The meal was very tasty and the price reasonable. With a soft drink and half a litre of water, I paid 17 EUR, which in Sorrento and for an organic meal is not bad.

The shop and restaurant are on a busy street corner, so there are no stunning views but if you are looking for tasty, veggie/vegan/organic food, this is the place to visit. It's the only place where you will find seitan, tofu, tempeh, or indeed vegan cakes on the menu!

The restaurant is open later than the shop, until 22:00 hrs and the website address is: http://www.mondobiosorrento.com

Pros: Fully veggie, Close to the train station, Friendly owner

Cons: Limited selection, Location is not very scenic

If you are in the area

If you are in Rome, there are lots of vegetarian and vegan options. But if you are in other parts of Italy, you might be looking harder. We took our chances while driving from Pompeii to Amalfi, Salerno, and back to Pompeii (exhausting drive). And I mean chances, because the hours are not posted on the website and they were on their mid-day break when we tried to call (and the hours posted on HappyCow are not correct!!). The food was good, with good vegan options. Not amazing, but good. The hours are 9-14:30 for breakfast and lunch and 18:00-21:00 for dinner, Monday-Saturday.
We also went to the shop. We found it not quite satisfying because we couldn't find any decent wholegrain bread with pure ingredients.

a bit of a walk to get there, but worth it!

A small cafe with a small shop next door. Had a delicious egg and seitan dish! I went in July 2011 and the hours at that time were "9:30 ~ 20:30; La Domenica Chiuso".

super small cafe/bio shop

The care part has a small glass counter with a few items the nice owner makes every day. Ask him which ones are vegan, there are always one or two, but perhaps a better idea to opt for some of his fresh organic produce (tomatoes) and grab some corn cakes for a great snack on the go!

Pros: fresh produce, friendly, english speaking
