Amy Ray is one-half of the internationally famous, Grammy award winning folk rock duo, The Indigo Girls. Ray began playing the guitar at an early age and in high school began playing as a duo with Emily Saliers. The duo adopted the name "Indigo Girls" in 1985.

After several years of college and playing the local scenes in Atlanta and nearby Athens, Georgia, The Indigo Girls were signed to Epic Records in 1988, and their first major-label album, "Indigo Girls," was released in 1989.

Indigo Girls' major albums to date are: Strange Fire, Indigo Girls, Nomads*Indians*Saints, Rites of Passage, Swamp Ophelia, 1200 Curfews, and Shaming of the Sun.

"Boys on the Side" is Indigo Girls' only movie appearance to date, although they did appear in the first "Ellen" episode of 1998. -imdb.com

I saw the Indigo Girls once, playing at an outdoor city concert in the summer of 2007. The woman sounded good. The crowd enjoyed the event.
