Zola’s Bakery - Edit
A wonderful bakery with an impressive selection of all-vegan treats, all freshly made on-site. I spent ages trying to decide—everything looked so tempting! I eventually settled on the pesto potato salad for lunch and saved an almond croissant for breakfast the next day. Both were delicious. The staff were warm, welcoming and patient whilst I ummed and ahhed!
Read moreIt’s bittersweet to hear from their Facebook page that they’ll be closing later this year as the owner/s prepare to move to Norwich. Wishing them all the best for the next chapter—so glad I had the chance to visit before they go.

Wonderful - Edit
We always go to Zola’s every time we travel to Scotland. They have a wonderful selection of bread, cakes and pastries. My special favourites are the cinnamon bun and the almond pain au chocolat. It’s also very doggy friendly and the staff are always lovely too.

Deeeeelightful - Edit
One word- outstanding. We don’t visit the Scottish Borders too often however when we do, this is the first cafe on the list to visit. The pastries are to die for (probably the best vegan almond croissant I’ve had…and I’ve had a lot). The coffees are also good quality (coconut milk cortado is very moreish).

Pros: All of the pastries, Great coffee, Relaxed vibe and friendly service

Cosy but disappointing - Edit
My husband and I visited here for lunch. I had hoped for a sandwich but the only one on offer wasn't to my taste. We both opted for the soup which was very, very salty. Not nice at all. I couldn't finish mine. We shared a haggis roll which was nice but the highlight was the toffee doughnut. Unfortunately, they only had one left. We didn't visit particularly late in the day so I would have expected more choices to be left and not sold out. If you go when it's busy then you may find that you'll struggle to get a seat. Which are uncomfortable. The toilets were part dingy store room and you need to be careful of the seat as it moves when you sit down.

We absolutely love Zolas and have been known to drive from Lincoln on a Friday evening just so that we can have breakfast there on a Saturday. Fantastic coffee, and the paine suisse are the bomb.

Worth the train ride by far! - Edit
Traveled down from Edinburgh just to try here and was definitely worth the trip! One of the best donuts I've had, and a fantastic haggis roll too. Good coffee and a cute wee space. Worth a trip to Gala!

Amazing bakery - Edit
Stopped to get lunch, picked up breakfast and snacks. Husband loved the vegan sausage roll with chilli jam, I had an amazing sandwich with mango chutney, samosas, hummus and salad, had a brownie for later and then heavenly almond croissants for breakfast the next day. Then got a cinnamon roll because they looked so good. Could have bought everything!

Amazing food - Edit
This bakery has very tasty baked goods with great textures. I’m used to the tasty pastries of vegan Dutch bakeries, but Zola’s bakery even beats Saint Jean in Amsterdam. Their cruffin had such a great texture: crispy from the outside and very smooth from the inside. Really recommended! They have other very tasty foods as well.
Read moreThe bakery is very small with 4 seats at the window, 2 at a table and 2 on couches. They have a toilet, but it’s in a kind of storage room with no working water tap.
