Not great

There are several vegan options on the menu, which I think is great. However, they're not very good. The vegan meatless meatballs were acceptable but quite dry. The vegan mozzarella  they used for the pizza tasted like béchamel. As for the vegan rainbow lasagne, it could have been ok if they'd used something like fried aubergine instead of frozen spinach for the filling, but, with the spinach, it was pretty much the same as a frozan lasagne from a supermarket that has been defrosted in the microwave. The tuscan-style potatoes were decent, but quite generic. The Zillionaire's fudge cake was fine, but you should order it without the honeycomb pieces because they are ridiculously sticky and absolutely inedible. Finally, the raspberry collins cheesecake is ok, but nothing special. All in all, the food was ok, and the ambience too, but I wouldn't pick this place over any of the local vegan/vegetarian places in Edinburgh, Newhaven or Leath. In conclusion, you can eat vegan food here, and it probably won't kill you (unless you try to chew and swallow the honeycomb pieces).

Good vegan pizzas in a mall

Even though it's located in a shopping mall, the place is pretty nice with a view over the water. They have a few vegan options which where clearly marked on the menu. Had to order via qr code which was fine. Both the Rustica Vegan Margherita and Rustica Italian Garden pizzas were tasty.

Decent chain restaurant in a mall

This was our first experience with Zizzi after seeing it all around Scotland. I can't say that I was disappointed, and I was impressed that they have a separate completely vegan menu. Unfortunately this location is severely understaffed, but our waitress was still friendly and accommodating. Don't come here if you're in a rush or expecting quick service as is understandable with an understaffed restaurant.

One of us did the Taste of Zizzi which includes app, main and dessert and the other just ordered a main. We shared the Bruschetta and the Zillionaire's Slice, and we had the Vegan Rainbow Lasagne and Rustica Hot & Spicy Jackfruit Pizza. Everything was tasty and each of the dishes had a "I'm Vegan, baby" sticker, which was a nice touch. No confusion as to whether it was vegan or not!

I wouldn't hesitate to go to another Zizzi based on this experience. Hopefully they're not all as woefully understaffed as this location.

Pros: Vegan menu!, Friendly staff

Cons: Understaffed

Good :)

Very good vegan pizzas - the zucca is a firm favourite. Pizza Express is catching up to them these days but still a very safe and enjoyable bet for a decent meal in Edinburgh :)

Great Food

I had a pasta dish off the vegan menu and it was delicious. Service was fast and friendly.
