Best Vegan Gyro

Zivio is a Greek-inspired, modern restaurant in Grand Rapids, MI Eastown - the trendiest part of Grand Rapids. While not a vegan restaurant, Zivio knows how to sparkle by picking one thing and making that one thing great. What Zivio lacks in variety it makes up in quality for the vegan option it does have.

Crafting its own take on impossible meat with the moniker "improbable" meat, Zivio creates a faux meat that resembles less of the beefy impossible inspiration and instead a lamb-like flavor. Yes, I, like many vegans, have a checkered past of meat-eating, but I have strived to be better. For better or worse, I have a memory of the nuanced flavor of different meats. Zivio crafts the best, and most similar to its forerunner, vegan gyro I have ever had. The bread is chewy and soft, the faux meat is salty and tender, and the vegan tzatziki sauce completes the picture.

Zivio also offers a vegan falafel that is good, but not as memorable compared to their vegan gyro. When I want a big, hearty, filling meal, I love to pop into Zivio and order a gyro that reminds me of my meat-eating college days going to the local quick service Greek restaurant.

Pros: Has vegan options, Amazing Vegan Gyro

Cons: Not Entirely Vegan, Not many Vegan Options

Really Tasty Vegan Option(s)

Got the Vegan Gyro with impossible meat. Was really good 10/10 - they had some other options like falafel and salad. The waitress was knowledgeable about salad dressing ingredients (honey). I would definitely go again. 4 stars because they didn’t have that many options but for what they did have it was really good

Vegan tzatziki!

There is only one marked vegan option on the menu, the vegan gyro. On the other hand, many of the options on the menu can be made vegan by substituting “improbable” meat or falafel with the vegan tzatziki. The vegan gyro, vegetarian platter, and Mediterranean nachos (with modifications) were all delicious!

Pros: Awesome food!, Vegan substitutes

Cons: Only one vegan meal marked on menu

A GR fave

Only have a few vegan options in the menu but what they do have is really really tasty! I come here often for the vegan gyro with falafel or imposter meat and the veg platter with vegan tzatziki sauce.

Pros: Flavorful options, Great drinks , Nice atmosphere

Cons: Limited vegan options

Good Lunch

We had some lunch, I ordered a salad, vegetarian only (you can ask to take cheese). My husband ordered a veggie/vegan burger. We sat inside but I think they have a nice outside patio. They have a few specific vegan option bust mostly vegetarian I remember. Michigan needs more vegan options.

Pros: Some vegetarian options
