Top Place - Edit
The menu is simple and it can only fit 6 people at the same time but the food is 10 out of 10! Fresh vegetables, delicious gyozas and very chocolatey cake. The chef is preparing the food in front of you and when they serve you your meal, they explain what you have on the plate. 100% recommend the place 👌🏻

Cosy restaurant in Kyoto, I had a decent salad with dumplings and rice, and a rich chocolate cake. It was nice chatting with the staff. Interestingly, I did have to ask for the chopsticks. :D

Amazing - Edit
The owner and staff were so nice but most importantly the food was amazing! The dumplings were the best I’ve had in Japan and the salad was dare I say the best salad I’ve ever had!

Best food in Japan - Edit
Everything was absolutely fresh, beautifully laid out, and delicious. Creative use of "soy meat" to produce Japanese delicacies. It's a small place and we had to wait in line, but so worth it.

Lovely People, Wonderful Food! - Edit
We found this place on Happy Cow and it was excellent! We were looking for something light so the salad option was really nice—it’s super filling though, and very tasty. The restaurant is pretty small with maybe enough seats for 10 people at most, but still very comfortable and it didn’t feel crowded somehow. The owners and young chef are fluent in English (and a variety of other languages) and very friendly. It was really nice chatting with them during dinner (there’s a bar that separates you from the grill and kitchen, so they are cooking in front of you the whole time) and the conversations are fun and interesting! The vibes were so positive! We really enjoyed it! Overall, it’s a great opportunity to meet some amazing locals and eat some delicious vegan food.

Me favourite spot 😭 - Edit
First off — the food is unbelievable. I’m a big salad guy and the salad is like nothing I’ve ever seen or tasted in a restaurant anywhere in the world. The meats are unreal. But the staff — I have them on Instagram and we are now friends haha. One of them gifted me a freaking bracelet and little Winnie the Pooh plushy keychain that I use to safekeep my kindle remote. We ate here every night we were in Kyoto!! Highly recommend

Leider unberechenbar - Edit

Wow! - Edit
I'm going to be honest, I almost ordered a second entree here- it was that good! The salad was so fresh, delicious, and incredibly seasoned. The hamburger steak was so filling, it was exactly what I needed. Could not help myself and ordered the chocolate cake too- reminded me of fudge. So good! Also loved the lemon beer. The women were so friendly and sweet- Amazing experience, I smiled the rest of the day! **It is a little different to find, I recommend you copy and paste the Japanese address listed into your Apple Maps and it will

Best Spot in Kyoto - Edit
I have had the opportunity to eat at many vegan or vegetarian restaurants in Kyoto and Zirael is by far the best. The food is fresh and delicious. The people working there are super friendly and welcoming. Keep in mind this is a counter restaurant so space is limited but if you have to wait it is more than worth it.

Hidden away in a small street (thanks to Happy Cow we found it) and it is well worth a visit. Food was delicious (hamburg steak) and visually attractive too. The worker was really happy and friendly. Vegan chocolate cake was fantastic! It's quite a small place, but cosy.

Warm welcome, cozy atmosphere, good food - we tried the dumplings and fried tofu, and the salad was really good. They were also very helpful in answering some questions and finding us information about the festival happening the day after. All in all lovely. Recommended!
