Serves meat, vegan options available. A Middle Eastern restaurant that specializes in recipes from Palestine. Their menu is two sided: One is completely vegan (if you substitute tahini for the yogurt sauce that comes with a side on their roasted vegetable arayas) and the other side, with fewer items listed, has several meat options. Owner states that the vegan food prep is done one of the days they are closed and the meat-based food prep is done the other day that they are closed. Open Mon-Tue 11:00am-9:00pm, Thu 11:00am-9:00pm, Fri-Sat 11:00am-10:00pm, Sun 11:00am-9:00pm. Closed Wed.

Delicious Palestinian 🍉 - Edit
This place is cozy and has so many clearly-labeled vegan options. Love the assortment of little plates. The falafel, baba ghanouj, and hummus were excellent.

Great falafel! - Edit
They had lots of vegan options, but I went because the previous reviewer said they had great falafels….. and they did! Great service and their outside seating is charming.

Very vegan friendly - Edit
This is a very vegan friendly eatery with a well labeled menu. The staff was kind to accommodate our large group of 10 people in their relatively small space. Personally I thought the food I ordered was ok but nothing special. I got a falafel wrap which wasn't bad but overall I felt like the wrap lacked flavor. I tried some of my partner's vegan shawarma and found it even more bland. The fries were nicely spiced. They do serve the wraps with a spicy tahini sauce on the side and this helped a lot to boost the flavor. If I were to come again I'd probably try some of their mezze instead of going for the wraps.

Outstanding! - Edit
Had an excellent meal here! The staff was great and the food was fresh and tasty. We had the futur medley sampler platter (delicious) and an eggplant dish called makdous that was even more delicous! I had no idea that pickled turnips could be so tasty! Will definitely come back!

Great vegan options - Edit
Ziatun is incredibly vegan friendly. I love that all of the vegetarian options are vegan by default (and can have cheese added), rather than an overly complex menu of different letters (V/VG etc) that you have to decipher. I got the falafel wrap hummus, zaatar fries and a sparkling rose lemonade. The fries came with a dip and when I wasn’t sure what it was, the server reassured me it was vegan (tahini-based). They obviously take great care in catering to vegans, the food is delicious, great non-alcoholic drink options, and great to support a Palestinian business! 🇵🇸

Ziatün is very special. - Edit
Absolutely love this place! Went here with my partner for the first time this weekend and ordered olives, shakshuka, falafel wraps, Palestinian cola, and some white wine. Hands down the best falafel in HV, and quite possibly the best I’ve ever had — size, taste, texture — all perfection. The staff were friendly, the place was cozy, and they had Palestinian merch to support a free Palestine. If you want authentic, apartheid-free middle eastern food that supports liberation and centuries of ancestral culinary wisdom, show this place, and your taste buds, some love!

Best Mediterranean Food Ever - Edit
I love Mediterranean food. They tend to have great vegan options. Zaitun is the best I've ever had. It's stunning. The vegan options are substantial, and a good many things that are vegetarian can be veganized easily.

Super flavorful and great service! - Edit
What a find in the middle of Beacon, on our day trip from the city! I was worried we wouldn’t find vegan options in that area but Zaitun came through with amazing (natural) vegan fare. Eggplant like I’ve never had before, delicious humus, flavorful falafel, hearty foule (beans), and best of all the seared portobello mushrooms as shawarma!! All with the best service I’ve experienced in a long time! I’ll be back to Beacon just for this restaurant.

Best Middle Eastern restaurant I've ever experienced! - Edit
What a surprise to find a world-class hole-in-the-wall in little Beacon! Ziatün is an unpretentious treasure of truly great food, excellent service, and intimate atmosphere. Lots of vegan options in every category (at least 27 vegan choices on the current menu), and those I tasted were imaginative, beautifully prepared, and delicious. The vegan shawarma with pan-seared sliced portobellos and traditional spices was the best shawarma I've ever had, including those with meat. I had it on hummus but you can choose baba ganoush or rice and greens. The fresh warm pita dipped in olive oil and za’atar seasoning was out of this world. The za’atar fries were dreamy, too. All seven of my party including the omnivores were talking about this meal for days. A small but well-chosen beer selection, a variety of wines, and Middle Eastern non-alcoholic beverages were a good accompaniment to a memorable meal.

Delicious Dinner - Edit
Ziatun was on our list of restaurants to try! Very happy we did. Cozy atmosphere with limited seating, but the staff were very kind and friendly. We started out with a couple appetizers at the communal bar seating before a table opened up for us to continue our dinner date. We shared a very pleasant evening together and would highly recommend this place.

Yummy mediterranean food for vegans - Edit
This is not a 100% vegan restaurant, but it feels close, because they go out of their way to make the default option for their meals vegan — and make the carnist version an add-on; or to have the front part of their menu exclusively vegan. This felt like a mostly vegan restaurant with some carnist options rather than the other way around. What a nice inversion! I would love to give them 5-stars just for that.
Read moreThe food is high-quality mediterranean. One place you see this is the fresh Za'tar and the home-made pickles in the Futur Medley (those pickles live in a different universe than those of even a good chain like Mamoun's). The vegan shawarma was very good, but frankly I would have ordered three servings of the Mujadarra if I had known it would be quite this scrumptious.
The Mujadarra is a dish of lentils and rice, that is topped with yummy fried onions. I would get this again and again and again.
They also had good vegan deserts (a vegan brownie and a baklava which, without honey, is vegan).
We originally came to Beacon for a vegan restaurant that ended up just not following their hours, and we were super happy to find this gem.
Pros: Vegan-bold omnivore place, lots of (good) choice, Great tasting food, sizable portions, Mujadarra

Delicious Vegan Options - Edit
Their delicious food has brought me back time and time again. Some good options are the hummus (yum), falafel burger & French Fries. If you’re not feeling a burger type then go for a rice bowl with falafel. Be sure to finish your meal with the vegan brownie! My only complaint is they haven’t the brownies the last 2 times I’ve gone as they sell out fast. They need to make more!

Cozy atmosphere - Edit
We dined in at Ziatun for a date night, and the atmosphere was so inviting. Tables are very close together, and the space is very small, but it contributes to the fun. There were lots of vegan options to choose from, and we ended up ordering an appetizer that was a lot bigger than we expected! It was a platter with pita, dipping sauces, veggies. The pita tasted store bought and was nothing to rave about, but the babaganoush was absolutely incredible.

Cozy Restaurant with decent food - Edit
Our meal at Ziatun was good but not mind blowing. We ordered a few different mezze/appetizers to share, for the price I thought the portions were a bit on the small side. The babaghanouj was great, and the pita bread was good. I personally wasn’t fond of the shashuka, which was too bland for me, I was a little shocked at the price for what they gave. A cute little place but I’m not sure I would go out of my way to eat here again.

Fabulous! - Edit
I dunno if other reviewers went there on a bad day or what, because the food is absolutely DELICIOUS. I’ve never had falafel that was quite so flavorful and not overly oily. The lentil soup is out of this world - and sure, is a bit salty, but what soup isn’t? The babaganoush is smoky and perfect. The hummus is the creamiest I’ve ever been served anywhere. The servers are lovely. I would absolutely go back here again and again. I want to try the Mujaddara next time we are in town. Try the vegan semolina cookies. So good!

Way too salty, low quality - Edit
I ordered:
Read moreHummus - It was way to salty and for 6.95 the portion was very small. The pita that comes with it is tasteless, worse then you might get at a grocery store.
Zatar Fries - The saltiest fries ever and very little zatar flavor. Huge portion.
Falafel - This was good.
Way too unhealthy for me.
